Our Friends Place is furthering its mission of empowering young women to break the generational cycles of abuse, neglect, homelessness and poverty by providing a new non-residential outreach program in the community called SOAR. The SOAR program, Strengths, Opportunities, Allies and Resiliency, provides life skill lessons through modules specifically designed to discuss foundational resources. Outreach programs are currently in two Dallas ISD high schools, Richland College and the Boys & Girls Club of Dallas.

Case management is encouraged during module lessons and upon completion of the program. Expected outcomes for the participants of the program are as follows:

  • Progress educationally
  • Increase job related skills
  • Increase employment history
  • Increase housing stability
  • Increase financial literacy
  • Increase competencies needed to meet long-term goals
