Our Friends Place is furthering its mission of empowering young women to break the generational cycles of abuse, neglect, homelessness and poverty by providing a new non-residential outreach program in the community called S.O.A.R. The S.O.A.R. program, Self-sufficient, Open-minded, Adventurous and Resilient, provides life skill lessons through modules specifically designed to discuss foundational resources. Outreach programs are currently in two Dallas ISD high schools, Richland College and the Boys & Girls Club of Dallas.

The Modules include:

  • Exploring Self
  • Education
  • Employment
  • Finances
  • Health
  • Housing
  • Future Story

Case management is encouraged during module lessons and upon completion of the program. Expected outcomes for the participants of the program are as follows:

  • Progress educationally
  • Increase job related skills
  • Increase employment history
  • Increase housing stability
  • Increase financial literacy
  • Increase competencies needed to meet long-term goals
