“When I came to Our Friends Place Transitional Living Center, I was staying at different people’s homes until they got tired of me and kicked me out. I was 18 years old, stressed out, and in my senior year of High School. I am now 21 years old and am living in my first apartment. I received my High School diploma and became a Pharmacy Technologist while living at the TLC. At the TLC, I felt safe and was able to focus on my education and my job. The TLC is great for young women who want to learn how to be independent because they push you to be successful.”

“My mother was a drug addict. Our life had been so hard moving from motel to motel; dealing with drugs, violence, prostitution, and even death on a daily basis. Sometimes when she wouldn't come home for days we were forced to go through dumpsters looking for food, clothing, or anything we needed at the time.
I went from foster home to foster home...then I arrived at Our Friends Place. They me the things I needed to know, not just to survive, but to live a healthy life.
I am now working in Biomedical Research at UT Southwestern Medical Center. I am a successful and very happy women. I can honestly say that Our Friends Place saved my life and for that I will always be grateful."

“I am 29 years old, married, have two great children, and we just bought a new home in May! I lived at Our Friends’ Place Group Home for about two years from 14–16 years old. I would not be the person I am today without the time at Our Friends’ Place. I was very angry when I came to OFP and learned to deal with my anger. I learned that bad things happen to people, yet how you deal with things is your future. I thank God for Our Friends’ Place.”

“Our Friends' Place Transitional Living Center provided me the opportunity to have a stable place to live while I worked on my post-graduate degree and had a full-time job. When I heard about the TLC program, I had no place to live and I was afraid that this would be an obstacle to completing my education and would prevent healthy personal growth. I am now a Licensed Master Social Worker, able to acquire employment with a salary above minimum wage, and have the privilege to have purchased a home. The TLC served as a safe way toward having a better quality of life and being able to achieve financial stability.”
