Executive Director
Sue Theirs Hesseltine

The Board of Directors' responsibilities include policy-making and raising the necessary funds for the ongoing operations of Our Friends' Place. Staff members implement the policies and manage the programs set forth by the Board. The communities served by the agency (Texas Department of Family and Protective Services and area juvenile justice departments) do not have representatives on the Board or on staff due to conflicts of interest. These entities play an important role in the ongoing quality assurance process. Volunteers serve varied roles within the structure of Our Friends' Place including: Board Members, committee members, mentors and tutors to our girls and young women, office assistants, and other positions related to the maintenance of facilities.

Sue Thiers Hesseltine, who has been Executive Director since April 4, 1994, has been working with adolescents since 1982. Her experiences include therapeutic camping programs and a parenting program for pregnant adolescents. Sue also directed a program for inner city youth and their families. She is a licensed childcare administrator in the state of Texas.
